PROMOTING WORK EFFECTIVENESS: THE IMPACT OF JOB DESIGN AND WORK MOTIVATION

Abstract: Lecturers who work effectively play a very important role in achieving the goals of higher education. The work effectiveness of lecturers can be seen from the achievement of higher education goals through activities carried out, namely: the accuracy of the process during completing work, evaluating how to complete work, making decisions successfully, completing work on time, achieving set goals, and utilizing resources appropriately. To promote the lecturer's work effectiveness, it is necessary to find and improve variables that can have a significant impact on work effectiveness. Job design and work motivation are thought to have an impact on work effectiveness in this study. The data were collected from 93 lectures in Jakarta, Indonesia, by using a survey method with path analysis applied in testing the hypothesis. In this study we found that job design and work motivation had a significantly positive effect on the work effectiveness. This can lead to the implication of the study and outcomes for future research on promoting the work effectiveness along with recommendation for practitioners to improve the job design and work motivation.
